Inquirers Class
Welcome!
If you are newer to Orthodoxy and are interested in exploring the Faith, here are a few tips/pointers to help you along the way.
- First and foremost: Keep coming to the Divine Liturgy. The deeper knowledge of God does not come from youtube, online forums or even theology books, rather it comes from experiencing God within His church. Books on orthodox theology are good, but living the Liturgical and mystical life of the church is better and should be the main focus.
- Second: Schedule a sit down meeting with our Priests. Fill out the Inquirer Questionnaire so we can get to know you. Share your gifts and talents with us so we can point you toward folks in our community that might have things in common with you.
- Third: Attend our Inquirers Class taught by Fr. Jim Pappas. These classes are discussion based, with a Q&A component. They are geared toward assisting newer members on understanding what the Orthodox church believes and how we may differ from other systems of belief. These classes are held on the 1st and 3rd Friday of the month via Zoom. This class is not mandatory, but it is meant to assist newer members for the first 6 months to a year. The Zoom class Login information can be found below.
- Fourth: Meet the people that make up St. George. So much of living and practicing the Orthodox faith is done in communion/community with one another. Stay after the service and get to know who we are during coffee hour. If you would like to lend a helping hand we always have opportunities to serve throughout the week. Look in our weekly bulletin to see what we have coming up.
- Lastly, be gentle with yourself and do not rush things. The Orthodox faith has been here for over a millennia and by the grace of God will outlast all of us. We at St. George want our inquirers to simply be present in the services, meet people, and get to know what it feels like to be a member in our community. This is something that should be done in peace.
